What is VoIP?

VoIP is an acronym that stands for Voice-over Internet Protocol. It is a type of technology that allows phone calls to take place via an internet connection. With broadband now readily available at almost 99.4% of premises in the UK* VoIP devices share this broadband connection, cutting out the need and expense of a traditional telephone wire.

So, how does VoIP work? Firstly, your phone connects to your router. When you place a call, your phone tells the VoIP provider to dial the other party. Your VoIP provider will establish the call and exchange data back and forth. This is then converted into a digital signal – audio!

Because of their online internet capabilities, VoIP phones include powerful features that you cannot find in traditional landline phones.

Managing your communications

When the UK was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses had to quickly adapt and create communication channels that transcended the typical office environment. After the pandemic, many businesses have adopted a hybrid working pattern, which allows their staff to retain some homeworking, whilst travelling to a typical workplace environment less frequently.

Now, managing your team's communication and processes is a job in itself; how do you maintain clear and open communication channels that benefit your staff and customers, without overhauling your existing systems? And how do you do that without any disruption, even when the landscape (or at least your team’s location) changes daily? All without employing a full-time technical wizard?

The answer for your business could be VoIP landline phones, which give you all the communication channels you need and are used to but with one difference…VoIP devices communicate over the internet instead of traditional copper wires. Helping you deliver better communications wherever your team are and saving you up to 30% on your costs too.

Introducing Microsoft Teams Integration

How do you get the most out of your telco systems whilst maintaining an efficient digital communications platform?

During the pandemic, Microsoft Teams saw accelerated growth in the number of users, caused by a shift in the way we were driven to communicate. Now, Microsoft Teams is an essential communication tool in many businesses, especially if your business and staff have adopted a hybrid working style. That style, which was enforced in many quarters has now become a habit that businesses, teams and customers alike have come to expect.

With collaboration becoming more difficult to achieve, more distractions to deal with daily, and less regular physical social interaction occurring, implementing a solution that will benefit both your staff and your customers is a delicate balancing act.

The power of VoIP

Take a moment - think about all the ways customers, prospects, and your staff try and get in touch with you at work. How many applications and devices do you have to have readily available when somebody calls? How difficult and time consuming is it to switch headsets, phones or channels and quickly?

Whilst it's important to recognise that not every person who contacts you will do so over the same channel, the call recipient (your teams) will want to reduce the number of available channels to make their day as slick and efficient as possible.

Hybrid Plug and play, anywhere you go

Keep the conversation going.

Hybrid working, where your team work from home/office/remote, is vastly increasing in popularity as businesses look to scale back on office space, give their teams a better work-life balance and protect themselves from any unforseen office working challenges, especially lockdowns.

Tools like Microsoft Teams help your business serve your customers regardless of where they're working from, but even Teams needs a reliable network to function from. With Voice Simplified's unified telephony solutions and combination of software and hardware VoIP phones, your business is free from barriers and no longer tied to a technology or a desk.

Our in-built telephony functionality blends seamlessly with Teams to give you a feature-rich telephone system on demand. Don't ditch your reporting or routing, voicemail or any other function just because you're working from home but enjoy the best of both worlds. Simply plug in your VoIP device wherever you are to experience communication continuity, no matter where you are.

Why do I need VoIP?

Here's how boosting your comms can benefit your business.

Reduce costs

Moving communications from traditional to digital platforms typically reduce costs by 30%. Digital platforms and cloud phone systems eliminate expensive on-site equipment like telephone cabinets.

Have multiple numbers all divert to one device

Use DDI's to limit who sees your personal numbers or track the source of your calls. Using DDI's also has other benefits, such as geo-numbers and personalised numbers within your organisation.

Keep a screen free

Take all your Microsoft Teams calls through your landline phone, keeping a screen free on your computer. Plus, there's minimal switching between devices - you only switch devices when you want to.

Listen how you like

No more uncomfortable headsets or clunky handsets. Plug in any pair of headphones you like or talk hands-free!

Simple direct routing

With direct routing into Microsoft Teams and Office 365, we can help you communicate and collaborate on any of your devices, no matter where in the world you work.

Easy to set up

Simply connect your devices and Microsoft Teams client to Voice Simplified’s cloud PBX without the need for any additional IT or telephony infrastructure.
